Huirong Ye is a PhD student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. Her current research examines the institutionalization of meteorology and weather representation in modern China, focusing on how weather was configured as a mediated domain through audiovisual, technological, textual, and spatial forces. Her broader interests include environmental humanities, transpacific island and ocean studies, sensory history, activist media, and contemporary art. Huirong holds a BA in History of Art and Architecture and a BS in Journalism from Boston University, and earned her Master of Design Studies with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she received the 2024 Design Studies Domain Award.
