Yiqing Chen is an artist and filmmaker based in London and Guiyang. Situated between fiction and documentary, his practice spans multiple media, including artistic film, engine game, and XR experiences. He approaches time-based media as a loose and interlaced structure, using multiple temporalities to explore transnational contexts connected by virtual technologies and
infrastructures, and the individual life narratives within it.
In recent works, he often draws on field-based observation and research into family histories to reflect on how changes in the lives, memories, and social relations of workers and ethnic minority communities are intertwined, across extended historical and economic trajectories, with material v culture, energy transitions, and processes of globalization.
