Selected Research Fellows | Changbai Spring 2026: The Idea of North Research Residency

From the announcement of the open call for Research Fellows on e-flux and our web platforms on December 12, 2025, through the application deadline on February 15, 2026, Changbai Spring 2026: The Idea of North Research Residency Program received a total of 40 applications. Applicants’ places of origin represented 10 countries—China, South Korea, India, the United States, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland, and Croatia—while their current bases spanned 15 countries and regions, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, Australia, the United States, Canada, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Poland.

We are grateful for the strong interest in the program and the depth of engagement reflected across this year’s submissions. Due to the limitations of residency capacity and program scale, we were not able to accommodate all applicants. Following a careful review and selection process, 16 applicants have been invited to join this year’s cohort as Research Fellows—exceeding the originally anticipated cohort of approximately 10:
